ZUMBA AND FITNESS GO WELL TOGETHER: Sunday's Raahgiri,
which is supported by the Times of India, was not only about fitness. Raahgirs came out in large numbers with a strong social message to convey . The day had an energetic start, with the DJ playing some peppy Bollywood numbers. The fun quotient was further escalated by a Delhi-based fitness club named Yog Youngistan, whose members performed Zumba on the stage.
CONTRIBUTING FOR A CAUSE: While the fun and fitness activities were on, some volunteers of a city-based NGO approached the crowd to contribute warm clothes and books for unprivileged children. Asmita Theatre Group performed a play on female foeticide. Vinita Yogi, a Dwarka resident, said, “Raahgiri is turning out to be a very good platform to spread a social message. The idea is unique, attracts the youth, and is fun.“
CANCER AWARENESS AND FITNESS DRIVE: Yoddhas, a cancer survivors' forum, along with a home health care service, organized a cancer awareness and fitness drive. The volunteers of Yoddhas and college students were spotted prresenting a street play on the same topic. Other volunteers from RDS dance academy also performed a dance drama named Vijaya's Battle. Commenting on the awareness drive, Dr Gaurav Thukral said, “Through on-ground initiatives like these, we want to reach out to people who are struggling with this deadly disease and are unaware of the procedures and measures available in the mar ket.“
